01/03/2012 | 1015 - Introduction to the Bible | | 4.2 | 5 | 5 | 2 | 5 | Yes | Difficult class, you'll have to study like hell to do well, but its worth it, and not impossible. In YU you get a lot of Professors who are extremely knowledgeable but are boring and do not present the material well. There are other teachers who present the material well, but sort of seem less serious. Professor Bernstein is both extremely knowledgeable and clear and entertaining, which is a good combination, and is a pretty nice guy as well. It's a lot of material, but if you put in the effort, download the Kandel Notes, and listen in class, you'll do fine.
12/31/2009 | 1015 - Introduction to the Bible | | 4.0 | 5 | 5 | 2 | 4 | Yes | I was told not to take him because he is a really tough grader but i ended up loving the class. If you would like to have a comprehensive introduction to the things you should be thinking about when you read Tanakh and you will work for an A, I would recommend him. If you want an easy A dont. No paper just final and midterm and a great set of notes on this site.

12/13/2006 | 1015 - Introduction to the Bible | | 4.2 | 5 | 5 | 2 | 5 | Yes | Dr. Bernstein is a knowledgable and great professor. Though I only audited his Intro to Bible course, having already taken it with a different professor, I still learned a lot. I would definitely take him. [ 1/2 people found this rating helpful. ]

He is extremely knowledgeable in Bible and of the of the many Amoraim, Rishonim and Bible scholars whose views the course material primarily consists of. Be prepared to learn many of the sources over the week if you want to be able to participate in class. The tests are fairly difficult but if you study you can pull a good mark and you will remember many important facts about Tanach which you can use for all learning and in life. Highly recommended.
