He's pretty chilled out and while he assignes alot of readings, he only really expects you to read the ones that he discusses in class. Finals are mostly from the class lectures. However, it isn't an easy A as he is a hard grader.

Also encourages student participation in the class. While you don't have to do every reading on the HW list, if you continually don't do them you'll get him annoyed and miss out on some good extra info. (Although its really not required to comprehend class discussions.)
