She should be judged by only how well she teaches. | |

If you are a bit of a slacker like I am and are looking for a teacher rather than a scholar, I recommend Ms. Levin or Rabbi Rosenzweig. She is a bit dull, but if you suck up, you''ll do just fine. I found Levin to be pretty straight forward and you do not really have to keep up with the readings. There are great mesorah notes on this site that everyone should use during class to follow along and go through the primary sources. The paper is not a research paper it's a response and is pretty straight forward though i dont know how i did on it I think i did well. Pay attetion and say something cuz you get bumped up from an A- to an A, do the assignments, and keep familiar with the primary sources.
I heard good things about Kaplan and Rosensweig for different reasons so speak to ppl! | |

Exams are very straightforward and if you pay attention and read the notes, they are very easy. The papers are graded a more strictly, but if you follow her instructions then they're not difficult. Great class, very interesting topic and Levin is very knowledgeable and intelligent and imparts the information well. Only prob. is that there is a lot of reading, which is smart to keep up with, but isn't essential for success in the class.

The sources are presented in a controversial way, bashing rabbinic authorities. Very hard class, the lopwest one of my grades by a longshot.

Oh, but I should mention that she does assign a lot of reading, so if that's your weak point, I'd stay away.
