As long as you come to class, you'll know whats going on on the test (no reading required). Best teacher (but not the easiest) in YU [ 1/1 people found this rating helpful. ] | | 02/18/2007 | 3221 - The Middle East | | 3.8 | 3 | 4 | 3 | 5 | Yes | A good class. Professor Simon knows the material. Her presentation is a bit lacking; mostly lecture, interesting as long as you're interested in the material, the occasional movie, which is fun, and she always has time for any questions you may have. Her biggest flaw is she lectures out of chronological order making the material very jumbled in the mind, but she gives out review sheets before tests, so as long as you've taken good notes, and a decent amount of studying, you'll do well. On par with History courses in the Ivys, she can just pretty much sit there and talk for hours. The textbooks and the readings are all just background knowledge so you can understand the lecture. She is pretty much the textbook, so be prepared to take a lot of notes. She used to be in Columbia U, but I heard Pres. Joel somehow snagged her here! If you want to really understand the Middle East and specifically Islam, you need to take this!
