05/03/20133209 - Psalms4.25525YesThis is not a blow-off class. There is homework every week, and a tough paper and final. That said, you will actually learn things in this class, which some Yeshiva College students may forget is kind of the point of going to college. Extremely knowledgeable, peppers his lectures with humor, and is a very nice guy. Highly recommend if you are serious about learning an academic approach to Tanakh.
12/30/20103209 - Psalms4.24535YesThis was a really great class, usually small because he has a bad rep for being a tough grader but I think his points are legitimate. You should have a good knowledge of hebrew grammar to take this course. There will be weekly assignments parsing verbs and answering some questions he feels are helpful for that week. He assigns one 8-10 page paper which most people get at least a 30/ 35 and the assignments most people get close to 20s on. It is not an easy A but it is very manageable if you stay on top of the work and ask him questions about the paper. SUBMIT A DRAFT! The final questions were given to us beforehand so you have an opportunity to answer the questions before the test and organize your thoughts. It really helps to have paid attention in class in order to be able to support your points with proof from the psalms covered in class. In conclusion, HE IS A GOOD TEACHER, EXPECTS HIS STUDENTS TO COME PREPARED TO CLASS, REQUIRES TIMELY COMPLETION OF ASSIGNMENTS AND A REALLY ESSAY. TEST IS MANAGEABLE. TAKE IT AND MOST PEOPLE WILL GET AN A- TO AN A.
